Hikvision NVRs and DVRs are first at launch. The Rikuy Bridge talks to them over ISAPI, Hikvision's own HTTP API, so your agent gets a live frame, a search by time and a clip, without new cameras.

We test on used recorders in our lab before writing support claims. White labels built by Hikvision, such as Annke, Ezviz and LTS, use the same driver.

How Rikuy talks to it.

A frame comes from the picture endpoint. Recorded video is found with a content search and fetched with a download, or played back over RTSP with start and end times in UTC. The Bridge shows the store's local time to you.

The Bridge sits on the store network and calls these on the recorder. Nothing reaches the recorder from the internet.

What to turn on in the recorder

    Create a user for RikuyA low-privilege user with digest authentication. Its password stays encrypted on the Bridge.

    Turn on ISAPI and RTSPBoth live under the recorder's network settings. ONVIF is off by default; you only need it for generic cameras.
  3. 3
    Switch off H.264+Smart codecs make clips hard to cut. Plain H.264 or H.265 is fine.
  4. 4
    Check the clockDigest fails if the clock drifts more than 5 minutes. The Bridge compares it with internet time and tells you.

During the private demo we do this with you on a video call. It takes about ten minutes.

Lockout after failed logins

Hikvision locks the account for 30 minutes after about 5 wrong passwords. The Bridge slows its retries so this does not happen to you.

Playback runs at real speed

A recorder can only play back one or two streams at a time, so Rikuy queues requests and fetches short clips, up to 120 seconds.

Never open a port

Some Hikvision firmware has a known flaw that works without a password (CVE-2021-36260). The Bridge only dials out, so the recorder is never exposed.

No new imports

In June 2026 the FCC stopped new Hikvision and Dahua imports. Recorders already in stores keep working and Rikuy keeps supporting them.
